How commlog records email sending error

Post by sparkly » Wed Apr 14, 2010 8:25 am

It’s infrequent, but those times when there is a failure to send of an email message, the popup window comes up stating so (otherwise it says ‘sent’), but after the popup is closed by the user, there is no indication in the commlog entry that the message failed to go out. It’s good that the message is retained to be able to cut+paste+resend but does not prompt the user to try sending again, and in fact does not enable the original message to be resent thus needing to generate a brand new one. This has been the case since version 4 or so. With the improvements to email capability in recalls and confirmations, is this an issue that warrants a fix now?

Does a ‘failure to send’ error look the same when generated from the recall email section of OD? I know several people posted in the past about error messages when doing recall emails and invalid email addresses happened to be the culprits. Were the affected accounts noted in the error so the OD user knew what accounts to fix or was it a manual search?
