I had an extensive conversation with a patient by phone this evening.
I want to document the conversation in the patient's chart where it is in view and in chronology.
How is this done?
I was thinking I would create a No Fee procedure code (Telephone Conversation).
Any one have any better solution?
Cheers!

Phone conversations are usually Commlog entries. But no-fee procedures are preferrable if it's something you would consider part of the legal record related to treatment. Also Commlog entries can be seen on all family members if desired.

Re: Patient Notes-not appointment related
While I agree with creating a no fee procedure for the conversation, won't the no fee procedure entries show on the patient's account and billing statements?...anyway to hide certain entries?...can one certain procedure code be reserved for recording conversations and other treatment notes that all OD users use that is hardcoded into OD so it doesn't show on the account and no OD user can mistakenly assign a clinical procedure to...

Use a status of EC. Then it won't show anywhere but the Chart.
