Is is possible to make the following query:

I need to count how many encounters I had with patients in 2010 to 2011 with a specific type of insurance

It would be even better if I could also specify how many encounters I had in 2010 to 2011 with a specific type of insurance and a billable procedure was performed.

Anyone have any ideas of how I could quickly extract this data from open dental or do I have to go day by day and manually count it up by hand?

Did you spend some time looking through the query examples? There are over 500 to pick from. Don't forget that you can use the filter, and then use Ctrl-F to find a keyword like "encounter" on the list of results.
