Workstation Install Problem

Post by savvy » Sun Dec 16, 2007 7:27 pm

I installed OD on a new dell computer work station. The problem is that OD does not show in the programs files or desk top for any of my limited access user accounts.

The procedure followed was exactly the same as all my previous installations. From the Administrator user,
I placed my flash drive into the front USB port. Went to the most recent backup (v.5.4.11) of the image files and installed OD from the setup file.

How can I show OD on all user screens?

Cheers!

OK, Savvy, lets see if we can help you with this problem.
Is it that it doesn't show in your Start Menu | All Programs?
If this is the problem, then doing this should place the link in all user files:

download this link, open the zip file and and place the link file in the:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs

Are you saying that this folder:
C:\Program Files\Open Dental
doesn't even exist when you log in under a different user? It has to be there. It's probably hidden. Go to folder options, view, and display contents of system folders. That's my first guess as to your problem.

Initial problem fixed.

Once logged on to a Limited User account, I went to My Computer, opened the C: Drive, opened Program Files, THERE WAS OPENDENTAL!
I opened OpenDental and made a short cut of the OD icon and placed it on the desktop.

This worked!!

Now I have a new problem(s) on all the computers, with all users.

"OPENDENTAL HAS ENCOUNTER A PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO CLOSE.......
DO YOU WANT TO SEND AN ERROR REPORT TO MICROSOFT"

See next thread.

Do you have all the dll files up to date? if you copied a new version of opendental.exe without the dlls this will happen.
