dentrix image 4.5 xrays to work with open dental

Post by LaA90lFa92 » Wed Sep 11, 2013 4:42 pm

I am thinking of switching to open dental. I currently use dentrix G-2 and dentrix image 4.5. I was told that open dental does not work with dentrix image 4.5. I was told to purchase Dexis image software. I called dexis and they want $4600.00 for their image software. Is there other less expensive image software that will do the job of dexis image software?

XDR works great. Much less cost than Dexis and has great image clarity. I doubt any software can import all your existing images though, but I bet you will find that to be of little importance in real world use as you usually take new films anyway as new problem arrise. Just keep your old software running to look up old films as needed and transfer those on an individual basis.

What hardware do you use to acquire x-rays? XDR may not fit the bill.. Apteryx will though. You need a list of cameras, sensors, and panos, and possible conebeam software to consider, though OD should be able to bridge to that on it's own.

Image is getting pretty old... If you have Dexis sensors, upgrade to Dexis 10. Filters are much better then Image.

Apteryx XrayVision at the web site price would be a lot less, $1795 for 1-user base then even $1575 for 10 more users would be less than what you cited; less than that if you don't need that many users. Bridges very nicely from Open Dental, would be able to handle Scan-X (has a plugin for it) and maybe even able to convert your Dentrix Images.

I do kinda wonder how Dentrix is passing off the Patient ID to Dentrix Image, etc.

I do have access to ViperSoft 3.1 (Before Dentrix Bought it).. Perhaps we could find out more by taking a look at that...
