Moving Quadrant in the Claim Form 2006

Post by thatODguy » Fri Dec 21, 2007 12:36 pm

I am using Version 5.3.11. I was wondering if there was a way to put the Quadrants for Procedure Code D4341 in field 27(tooth number) instead of field 30(Description) in the Dental Claim Form 2006 (UR LR UL LL). It seems like the prefix is just added to the beginning of the String of the description, but I am not sure. Once again, I want to take the Quadrants of procedure code D4341 and put them into field 27, Tooth numbers. Thanks in advance.

The problem with doing that is that then the tooth numbers for other procedures would not print in the form, only the quadrants. As I understand it, quadrants and arches are supposed to print in field 25 (areas of oral cavity) as numbers. I think 10, 20 , 30 and 40 are the quadrants and 01 and 02 are the arches. Some insurance carriers may have problems with that, but they are supposed to do things according to the rules set by HIPAA.

The claim form instructions require numbers (10, 20, etc), so that's what we have to use for quadrants. We prefix the UL, UR, etc to the description to help with ins companies that for some reason don't seem to want the numbers.
