Ok, when i search or do a report on write offs, there are zero, despite the fact that they are obviously there somewhere
When we do a write off, we go into account, +-adjustment, then put the amount in, and click on the write off, in the subtraction column, then press ok
Is this the accepted way of doing it?
Is there any other way?
I have a feeling that what is happening is that when the production and income report is done, all the adjustments INCLUDE the writeoffs as well.
If I search under the reports, daily, adjustments, I can see where they are.
If, on the other hand I search production and income, There is procduction, adjustments, adn teh entire writeoff column is zero
I cant find any write offs in my db at all!!

This article in the manual summarizes how to setup fee schedules to track writeoffs: http://opendental.com/manual/planppo.html. To make it work you'll need to setup contracted fee schedules for insurance carriers you're in network with (not sure is Australia works the same as the USA with this) and then set the contracted fees for the procedure codes.

Kevin outlines the way we recommend handling writeoffs.
When using adjustments, your 'writeoffs' will be in the Daily Adjustments Report.
