Experience with BirdEye, sends emails and SMS after appointment?

Post by jfoust » Fri Aug 20, 2021 9:27 am

I'm an IT consultant assisting a clinic that uses Open Dental. They've hired a coaching firm that would like to install a third-party tool on the server. The company that makes the tool (and this "reputation management service") is called BirdEye https://birdeye.com/homev1/. (And https://birdeye.com/integration/opendental/)

BirdEye tech support prefers to remote into the server and install themselves. They have not been able to provide what I'd call actual documentation about the requirements of the software and what it does. They have provided some minimal info.

As far as I can tell, it is triggered after an appointment is ended. If the patient info includes an SMS text number or an email, somehow it exfiltrates this info, sends this to BirdEye servers, and then the patient is sent a text message or an email containing a link to encourage them to submit a review on Google, HealthGrades or other review sites.

Does anyone have experience with BirdEye? Anything I should watch for, in terms of best practices for IT?

Open Dental has the Automated THANK YOU feature that send Thank you text message or/and email after an appointment is completed. Here you can enter your THANK YOU message and one or multiple social media links for your patient to click on and post their reviews.
I dont think you need another service for that.

It's more complex than that. BirdEye is a larger "reputation management" service that send out emails of its own.
