Using Office365 Email Through OpenDental
Using Office365 Email Through OpenDental
Is anyone out there using Office 365 to host their email service and able to successfully send/receive email through OpenDental? Our IT crew, along with OpenDental support, cannot get it to work.

Incoming

Office 365
Error: The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.57 SMTP; Client was not authenticated to send anonymous mail during MAIL FROM.
Solution 1: Most likely, Office 365 needs you to create a new password. Log in to the Office 365 portal (https://login.microsoftonline.com/). You will be prompted to change the password. Once the password is changed and reflected in Open Dental, email should work.
Solution 2: Make sure the email account in Open Dental has a valid Office 365 license assigned to it and that SMTP has been enabled for that account.
Note: By default, Office 365 may not have a license associated with a shared mailbox. Without a license SMTP cannot be enabled for the mailbox. If the solutions listed above do not work, we recommend contacting Office 365. If Office365 licenses have been purchased through another vendor, such as GoDaddy, you may need to contact the vendor to help with settings changes.
Alternatively: If the above does not solve the problem, try removing the Sender Address. Leaving this entry blank may allow the client to connect.
Error: 535 5.7.139 Authentication unsuccessful, SmtpClientAuthentication is disabled for the Tenant
When using Office 365 through GoDaddy.
Make sure SSL is checked, use GoDaddy's outgoing SMTP information and Office365's incoming POP3 information within the email address edit window

Re: Using Office365 Email Through OpenDental
We have it running on Microsoft 365 and it works great. Love it. Next we will pipe it through both Dynamics 365 CE and Customer service (thats for the DSO/Lab part of the business). Caveat though. This is brand new and apparently ya need the latest build of OD to make it work consistently
