RxNorm Database update

Post by dqadri » Mon Sep 23, 2024 4:45 pm

Hello!

I hae been noticing that newer meds aren't listed in my RxNorm database. I went to check for updates, and OD shows that the latest set available for download is 2015-11.

Doing some Googling yields this link: [https://www.nlm.nih.gov/research/umls/r ... files.html]
NIH updates this database fairly often.

Am I missing something or do I need to do a manual update to get updated RxNorm info?

Manually updating them would probably yield the fastest results. Voting for Feature Request #8835 is my technical response.
The best thing about a boolean is even if you are wrong, you are only off by a bit.

We consider RxNorms to be part of the EHR features that were added solely to allow offices to get their government incentive. We didn't think anyone was actually using those features. We have not been updating EHR features because nobody's using them. I'm curious what you use RxNorms for.
