Is it possible connecting open dental to a remote database?

Hello there, Im wondering if its possible to connect open dental to a remote database, in the case of the company Im working with, we connect on a local database used on a windows VPS. I want to migrate this database to a dedicated server. so no matter where I install my open dental client, I can connect to this db, is that possible ?
