Plug-ins Forum Topics
Plug-ins Forum Topics
The topics for this forum can be anything plug-in related. Ask questions, promote and share open source development in order to help make Open Dental a better experience for all.
What are plug-ins?
Outside developers are able to create their own additions to Open Dental. These "additions" are coded as plug-in dll's and then hooked into Open Dental via the Program Links framework. Because plug-ins are an extension of the Program Links framework a button can be placed at the top of any module in order to launch them (if they require launching). Plug-in developers will create these dll's and then they can publish them, sell them, or keep them private.

Developers should still use the "Developers" forum to request plug-in hooks because that is still considered "questions about the source code".

I'm fairly certain the light bulb icon means it is sticky. I won't know for sure till another thread gets posted I guess.Rickliftig wrote:Jason - can you pin your welcome post or make it a sticky?

Re: Plug-ins Forum Topics
Can I make a request here for some custom work or is there another preferred forum section for that?
Request does not necessarily need to be fulfilled by the Open Dental team, it can be a third party developer as well.
Possibly getting some feelers out if more offices would be interested in this specific request and maybe we can split costs.

Absolutely. Feel free to create a new thread topic within the Plug-ins forum to get the creative juices flowing for your idea.Erik@AD wrote:Can I make a request here for some custom work or is there another preferred forum section for that?...

Re: Plug-ins Forum Topics
I have two program links/bridges enabled in OD and not sure what they are for, if anyting.
Callfire, and PluginConvergedComm
The button for PluginConvergedComm is on my toolbar, and staff is asking what it is for. Press the button and nothing happens.
Could be I used prev. external programs that needed those, but not sure .
Currently using Flex and SwellCX for outside services.
The other bridges I use are for my Radiology, so I know those should be enabled.
TIA

Re: Plug-ins Forum Topics
Callfire is a 3rd party text messaging app. According to our documentation, the program link in Open Dental is now obsolete. A few more details can be found in our manual here: https://www.opendental.com/manual/bridgecallfire.html. ConvergedComm is a 3rd party communication plugin by HRD SQ. I can't find any more details on that one in our documentation. It must be a custom bridge. HRD SQ has a website that may have more info: https://www.hrdsq.com/.

Making this topic not sticky so that I can have a simpler sticky topic.
