Version 5.5 Appointment module

Post by tcdc » Sat Jan 26, 2008 7:52 pm

I just upgraded OD from version 5.3 to version 5.5 and it looks like selecting patient from the appointment module no longer brings up the "make/find appointment" screen? After selecting the patient, we have to manually click on the "Make/Find Appt" button to bring up the screen that once came on automatically with the previous versions. Is there a way to bring it back????

I don't think that behavior has changed. I think it only brings up the make/find window if it's a new patient, not an existing patient.

If that's the case, then it must have been changed in Version 5.4 b/c we upgraded to v5.5 from v5.3 and never got to use v5.4 . And all the previous versions we've used, even after selecting an existing patient, the "make/find appt" screen comes on automatically. It's not a big deal, but our front desk is a bit slow... and the added step of clicking on the "make/find appt" button will probably take her a while to get used to.

How are you "selecting" the patient? Is it by using the select patient button, or by double clicking on an open appointment slot?

We're selecting patients from the select patient button on the toolbar.

unless you are just looking for prev appts...it usually works better by double clicking on the book and then selecting a pt. Then your make/find window will come up. As of the change to the universal toolbar it no longer comes up when you click the select pt button in the appt module. We find that to be helpful actually and like the way it currently works, although there could be a case made for both ways.

I actually wasn't aware that the behavior had changed, and now we might consider reinstituting the previous behavior. Thanks for the heads up.

If possible, that would be GREAT!! With the previous version, we've just been selecting existing patients and adding new patients that way and find that the automatic popup is really useful as it saves us a second or two as well as one less click. In fact, we never even really noticed that "make/find appt" button until now that we need to use it. If that can be reincorporated, that'll be awesome.
