improving referral accuracy

Post by enamelrod » Sun Aug 21, 2016 7:58 am

Is there a way better structure referral tracking?
I would like to separate the referrals to internal and external.
then under internal referrals have a category from specialist and referrals from patients, etc.

for external have internet, print ads ,Internet?

and keep track of this is there anyway to do this?

improving referral tracking?

Are you currently using the internal referral features?
If so, to what capacity?
Entropy isn't what it used to be...

Select any patient, click "Family" and double click the green "Referrals" field.

This will pop up a window. If you click "Referred From", you can attach a referral source to the patient.

Here are some of our manual pages that cover referrals.
http://www.opendental.com/manual/referrals.html
http://www.opendental.com/manual/referralsetup.html
http://www.opendental.com/manual/referralslips.html
http://www.opendental.com/manual/report ... lysis.html

It sounds like you want a way to be able to group referrals. There is not currently a way to do this. Maybe you could use one of the fields on the referral like the middle name to store internal and external. You could then use a custom query to track these referrals.

I pre-pend the specialist's last name with punctuation marks: ;Smith (Oral surgeon), /Jones (Periodontist), ^Referred from Internet, $referred from Church Bulletin - and this will at least sort the lists. I think it would be pretty easy then to do a query on that punctuation mark if you arelooking for totals.

Patient referral sources have no punctuation added

Rick that's how I have done it in the past just wanted a way to group them. There needs to be an improvement to the referral system so you can group them.

Agreed! ASCII sorting is getting pretty old. (Of course, my office has OpenDental running on CP/M with dual 8 inch floppy disks and a windows XP emulator. My staff likes the bright green screens too.)
