Task List
Task List
Is it possible to have a list of tasks specific to an employee?
It seems that this would be possible, but I can't seem to figure it out.
Cheers!!

Re: Task List
Yes! The user should log in. Then, you will see a special tab for that user. Go to the main tab and right click, subscribe. Then, that task list will show in that user's tab. We use task lists very heavily, so I'm confident that they work smoothly.

Re: Task List
I saw that, but.......
How can I make a task employee specific?
When I am logged in, the Task bar has "Dr J" on it and no one else.
Since I will be the one creating the tasks, how can I assign them to the employee?
For example, Frontdesk people have different tasks than assistants and hygienists.
When my frontdesk logs in, will she see just the tasks associated with her or will she see a lists of all the tasks?
Example:
Frontdesk: Mondays: Sharpen pencils, clean erasure tops, pick dust off the scotch tape. Wednesdays, repeat Monday tasks, include colored pencils.
Assistant M,T,W,Th, F Repeated: Assist, make coffee (create coffee smell), keep doctor's coffee cup filled with Bushmills.
Hygienist Daily, multiple times, Look in the mirror and repeat, " I am not a Prima Dona,

Re: Task List
HA
Good luck on the Hygeinist!!!
I like that one.
For non repeating tasks, just make a task list (with their name) for all your people and then assign the task to that list. Then have that user subscribe to that list with their name. I don't know about repeating tasks and dated ones. Jordan and I have prev discussed the need for improvements in this area and it is planned for the future.
I think you are wanting, is to be able to assign tasks to DIFFERENT users of OD in the SAME list by changing something right in the task edit window....that is not currently possible...but Jordan...would that be possible?

Re: Task List
Forgive my incompetence but.........
I go to Tasks, select Add TaskList, I get an error that reads "not allowed to add a task list to the trunk of a user tab. Either use the subscription feature, or add it to a child list."
What subscription feature?
What is a child list?
Ok, I try it again.....
This time I select Main, select add Task List, in the Description Line I type Reception Room, I leave everything else as default.
I choose Add Task, type Restock Minibar.
How do I assign the task to an employee?
I thought I would follow the instructions that state." To get task lists to show in the user tab, go to the Main tab, right click on a list, and select Subscribe."
I do exactly that....one problem....there is no "Subscribe".
How am I screwing this up?
Cheers!!!

Re: Task List
You can't assign individual tasks to users, only task lists.
you would right click on "Restock Minibar" and subscribe.
if you want to make it work, you make a tasklist called "Debbie" (employee's name), subscribe them to this list and then put a task in there called "Restock Minibar"
It certainly would be nice to assign specific tasks as you describe to specific employees in different lists.

Re: Task List
I'm getting closer......
I set up Task List's described as the name of my employees.
How do I setup a task to be done every week by a certain employee?
That is create a task , "Send out Statements".
Have that task assigned to the task list "Lupie",
Have it appear every Wednesday.
I do not assign it to Task List, Prima Dona
I invision this as follows:
The task is created today, to appear on Wednesdays called, "Send Out Statements.".
Lupie and Prima Dona log in Monday and Tuesday, each day no task appears.
When Lupie logs in on Wednesday, the task "Send Out Statements" appears.
When Prima Dona logs in on Wednesday, no task appears.
Lupie completes the task, marks it done.
Lupie and Prima Dona log in Thursday, Friday, Monday and Tuesday each day showing no task.
On Wednesday Lupie and Prima Dona log in, the Send Out Statements" task appears for Lupie but not for Prima Dona. Lupie fails to mark it as complete.
On Thursday Lupie logs in.
The task called Send Out Statements" still appears.
Prima Dona logs in...no task listed.
Is this correct?
And......
How can I delete the Task Lists that I no longer wish to have?
Cheers!!!

Re: Task List
The subscription feature for assigning task lists to specific users is not currently designed to handle repeating tasks. You can manually drop tasks into someone's task list to your heart's content. That's what we use it for all the time. Repeating tasks are cruder right now. I don't think it's possible to do what you are attempting. We need to overhaul the way repeating tasks are handled.

Re: Task List
Jordan
1. Can a task list be deleted if it is attached to an inbox, if the task list is empty. Seems not.
2. Can a task list be hidden whether or not attached to an inbox (need to if some staff are no longer with the office)
3. Can a task list be detached from an inbox?
4. Can tasks be deleted from a task list?
5. Can completed tasks be seen?
Thanks

Re: Task List
I would have to test some of these questions, but here are some quick responses off the top of my head.
1. Might need to detach it from the inbox.
2. I don't think so. I usually create a task list that says old, and then move old lists into that folder. So they get buried a level deeper than before.
3. I don't know. Seems like you should be able to.
4. Certainly.
5. You have to check the box at the top left that says "Show Finished Tasks". Then, you can change the date range. Yes.
