Creating a new eForm - unhandled input error.

Post by Scott »

When creating/editing a new eForm, a percent "%" symbol was accidently typed in the width field entry after the number. When going to save the form it pops up an ugly message and then OD shuts down completely, not saving any changes made for the last 15 minutes... Could be handled more gracefully :) Also tried it with "px" after the number to see if that would trigger it. It does.

On a related note, the reason changes weren't being saved more often is because when you do, OD takes you out of the eForm designer and you have to click the form again to continue editing it. Can there be two save buttons? One with "Save" that leaves you in the form editor and one that is "Save and Close" for when you are actually done.

updated: as you build out your form and it has multiple pages, when you save your changes and it takes you out of the editor, you have to click to open the form again, and then click as many times as needed to get back to the page you were working on to continue editing. It's not nice to work with.

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing this issue Scott! We'll get the crashing issue addressed shortly, and we will take your suggestion for a alternative save flow under consideration.

Update: It looks like the crashing issue may have been resolved in 24.2.28.0, it should now indicate that the field is invalid when non-numeric characters are entered into that box. Scott, is your Open Dental version before 24.2.28.0?

Apologies, forgot to check back on this after a few days. We are on Ver 25.2.42.0

"we will take your suggestion for a alternative save flow under consideration". That would be great, thank you.

Update - Just tried it again to be sure. Crashes immediately, Added screenshot

Similar crash issue when using a Shift/Enter for a newline in a "Label" field. Using Ver 25.2.68.0

I was creating a new eForm and typed a percent symbol in the width field. Open Dental crashed immediately. I updated to version 25.2.46.0 and the issue was fixed. Later, I tried using Shift+Enter in a Label field and it crashed again, so I reported that to Open Dental support
