Hi,
I am learning more features of Open Dental everyday! I absolutely love it.
I am just now setting up custom referal slips. Is there a way to add fields to a custom referal slip? I am in the sheets set-up, and I can't figure out how to add new fields, such as Referalphonenumber, or specialty.
Thanks.

I was about to ask the same thing. We need to have the doctor's specialty and phone number on the referral slip.

What I do is scan the referral slip as the background image. It has all the information of the doctor you want to refer to. Also it makes it easy for the office of the other doctor to identify the slip since it is in the same layout. You can put your name and phone number on the slip before you scan. You then don't need the fields you are asking for. My understanding is that you cannot add fields that are not on the list.

Which doctor's specialty and phone number? Referer or referee?

That would be the doctor we are referring the patient to. It's not something really crucial, since we normally write this info on the envelope we put the referral slip in so the patient can call for an appointment. Maybe some of us don't use envelopes, in that case it would be necessary to have that info on the slip.

Re: referal slips.
If you're doing separate referral slip layouts for each referral, then it's really easy. You would typically start with a scanned form. You can add fixed text to it as needed. So what you must be talking about is a generic referral slip to be used for a variety of referrals. You're right. Referral phone number is obviously missing. I'll put it down as a bug.

Thanks. Also I plan to use a generic referal sheet that would be printed out as a router when pt. checks out, so it would be helpful to have the referred to doctor's specialty show up on the sheet. Thanks.
