Server (Windows XP) updated from compiled 6.6.22 to compiled 6.6.27. Crash on running OpenDental on Workstation (Windows 7, Vista, XP). Should I attach the image too Jordan?
Workaround: Manual install on each workstation.
Background. Previously setup
Query: UPDATE preference SET ValueString='1' WHERE PrefName='UpdateWindowShowsClassicView'
Previously updated from 6.5.13 to 6.5.24 successfully using the same method:-
Directory on Server: OpenDentalUpdates
Subdirectory: U6513
Files: Manifest.txt and Setup.exe
Update code U6513, Download update. Then when server OpenDental updated, simply start workstation OpenDental and it updated
Previously updated from 6.5.24 to 6.6.22 successfully using the same method:-
Subdirectory: U6524
Files: Manifest.txt and Setup.exe
Update code U6524, Download update. Then when server OpenDental updated, simply start workstation OpenDental and it updated
Now, updated from 6.6.22 to 6.6.27 successfully on server in same manner
Subdirectory: U6622
Files: Manifest.txt and Setup.exe
Update code U6622, Download update. Then when server OpenDental updated, Workstation OpenDental started but it crashes (unhandled exception) on starting "Could not find a part of the path \\Server\OpenDentalData\UpdateFiles\Manifest.txt"
So, something changed between 6.6.22 and 6.6.27 (I noticed a couple of new tables were added too).
Cheers
Update using Classic View
Re: Update Crash
I am also seeing this error randomly. Some workstation on the same network update without any message and then some have the error message. If I create the Update Files directory and a blank manifest.txt file then the other workstations will update but they download the update files from the internet server and not from the local server.

Re: Update Crash
I'm assuming you are on classic view as well?

Re: Update Crash
Actually, notwithstanding the changes post 6.6.22, the main change to cause the error must have come about between 6.5.24 and 6.6.22, i.e. with the introduction of 6.6, since version 6.5.13 updated successfully up to 6.5.24, and 6.5.24 updated successfully up to 6.6.22, but now 6.6.22 does not update properly on the workstations. So, something changed between 6.6.22 and 6.6.27 (I noticed a couple of new tables were added too).
Cheers

Re: Update Crash
OK, that should all be back to the way it was. It should behave just like it did in 6.5 from now on if you are using classic view. If not, let me know right away.
