Problem with Importing PDFs

Post by praz » Tue Jan 26, 2010 5:11 pm

Just got onboard with Open Dental with a new practice with some experience with it back in 2003. I looked through the modules on importing but feel like I'm spinning my wheels.

I just got a ScanSnap and have been able to create pdfs, which I'm stoked! I specified a directory called server/scanned. However when I go to the patient's import module to import a pdf from server/scanned, it files correctly as you click the dated pdf seeming it was actually imported.
However when I exit the screen and go back into the patient's image module and try reclicking that pdf file date, it will say reads "system cannot fine the file specified.

So I looked into my server/scanned and see my original pdf, a new letter folder then a subfolder with patient name, and then a new pdf with number tag.

Am I suppose to scan directly into \\DENTAL5\OpenDentImages and then go through the import module to make it work? And how about clean up? do a batch file to delete original pdfs within \\DENTAL5\OpenDentImages?

Hmm...loaded the original pdf into Opendentalimages and it fed into the respective name with an new pdf name. However it still gives system cannot find the file specified. Not sure what to do...

I think your problem is in the correct setup of data paths. I think you better have OpenDental support have a look at your setup.

The part about the "new letter folder" caught my eye. You mean like a new "S" folder if the patient was John Smith? The thing is that there should already be a letter folder for every letter of the alphabet. So that means to me that you are not actually pointing at a proper AtoZ folder. There should be 26 lettered folders as well as a handful of other kinds of folders that OD needs. It was created when you installed the trial, and the whole thing should be moved to a new location rather than you just pointing to an empty folder as your AtoZ folder.
