I understand the procedure is to break appointments and then to delete appointments off the appointment diary at the end of the day for those who don't show up. Also if someone is scheduled next week on Wednsday say for a specialist who visits and rings today and wants to change it for 3 weeks hence , Is the procedure just taking the appointment off the diary for next wednsday and moving it to the pinboard, then going to 3 weeks hence and pasting it in. How does the specialist know then next wednsday who was meant to be in and who cancelled as he may have needed to see them much sooner. The specialist suggests breaking the appointment, leaving it on their diary, going to other appointments, and instead of highlighting the broken appointment and clicking copy to pinboard instead clicking create new appointment and then highlighting the procedures attached to the broken appointment and going from there. This then leaving the x across the patient so he can see who cancelled.
Is there any way of doing it the opendental way and him seeing it. I know a paper diary would allow everyone to see whos who and who broke by seeing the physical line through the appointment on breaking. Thanks

Re: Breaking appointments and rebooking
Leaving it in place as broken isn't too bad. We've made improvements that take this into consideration. The biggest improvement was when we added the ability to grab the procedures from the first appointment when scheduling the second appointment.

How do you "grab the procedures from the first appointment when scheduling the second appointment."?

Create new appointment. In procedure select window, choose [Other Appt] procedures. Now the new appointment contains those previously scheduled procs.mfdental wrote:How do you "grab the procedures from the first appointment when scheduling the second appointment."?

Oh, I didn't realize that wasn't possible before. I already do that sometimes.
Thanks!

Re: Breaking appointments and rebooking
Well, another way to leave the appointment 'in the books' is to make a code, like BA that you use to 'complete' for that days visit....so the appontment stays on the diary, and makes a note in the chart and account.
The appt will remain on the schedule, and the PROCS can be the BA or whaterever, so you can look at the day quickly.
What we have done is when we delete the appt on a BA or reschedule or what not, we put a 'block out' in a bright color where the appt was supposed to be. If the time gets filled, we move that appt to a 'blank' operatory that we have set up. This way, we can physically quickly see who broke an appt by looking at the colors on the block out on the schedule.
Try different things and see what works for you.
