Trick to show missing crown/retained root tips on chart

Finally figured this one out!

It's not infrequent that I have to chart a root tip that has lost its crown and is now non-restorable.

I set up a procedure code N4888 (whatever NXXXX you want) and I used an abbreviation fx (again whatever.).

Paint type is Crown light and treatment area is tooth; Here's the secret - click on the color override button and select a new color. I used black and voila - these dead soldiers are now clearly charted,

That's a great workaround. I know we have a feature request for a retained root graphic (I know, because I added it) #217. On my notes, we actually state "It should be possible to create a dummy code with a crown drawing type and dark black color to signify a total missing coronal tooth structure". Great minds.

If you've got a spare vote, throw it up towards this feature. I'd like to see both a graphic root tip as well.

Sorry guys/gals. I followed your directions and used green for color but nothing happened.
Setup the code and the properties as you described, used a missing tooth area, Selected Existing Other from conditions but no luck. It is listed in the chart as a root tip but no graphic.

We are on 16.2.30

Double check that the code is set to chart as a tooth type in Lists > Procedure Codes and double check your paint type. Either the Tx area or the paint type (or both) is off.

Is it dark green? That's fantastically morbid.

I tried to take a picture of my setting but can't figure out how to post it but here is what I have.

Paint Type = Crown Light (Tried Filling Light, no luck)
Treatment Area = Tooth
Color Override = Dark Blue
Category = Oral Surgery
Condition = Existing Other

Where did you get condition from? Now that I think of it, that would only show up in the chart.

Are you in the Lists - Procedure code Menu item? (CTRL+Shift+F)

Did you select a tooth before using the code? Is it registering the tooth number in the chart?

What I am calling Condition is 'Entry Status' eg Treatment Planned, Existing Other, Existing Current...
Lists, Procedure Codes
Tooth is selected.

Maybe I have something else turned off or not selected!
I will try again tomorrow.

If we can get the custom color settings for the chart background we can make it disappear completely. We need to know the Hue: Sat: Lum: Red: Green: Blue: settings for the chart background color.

You can change the chart background color in Setup > Definitions > Chart Graphic Colors. The Main Background color can be modified.

Actually I tried to match it and because of the shading it still looks like a crown. Maybe we should request a paint type called invisible

Yes, IF we have a paint type that matches the background type then it would totally be invisible and also preserve the freedom to change the background without altering the graphics.
