v 19.2 Pt Dashboard/Database Efficiency

Post by drtech »

We love being able to have the pt dashboard, but it seems to be very resource intensive and on our slower/older workstations, extremely slow loading upon login of a user account with the dashboard enabled (like 8 seconds), where without it enabled it loads almost instantly. On newer workstations, it loads in only 1-2 seconds it seems and not as noticeable. Any efficiency improvement going to be made here or can you duplicate?

Thoughts: I wonder if this is related to the appointment book seeming to refresh slower too that I mentioned in another post. Maybe database connection inefficiencies? I think I did disable the capitalization checking on my linux database as there was an error upon trying to upgrade. I wonder if that slows down efficiency. I am running mySQL 5.7.27 on an Ubuntu VM, but that is unchanged for a while and was running full speed before my upgrade from v18.2. Also, I think I allowed Open Dental to change the database type either from myISAM to InnoDB or the other way around, I don't remember for sure, but I will investigate to see what it is now. Just thinking out loud... Seems like all stations are a bit slower than it was in v18.2...

We did put quite a bit of work into the dashboard efficiency for 19.2. Are you on version 19.1 or 19.2?

We will keep an ear out for other customers that have slowness, and we might look into another round of enhancements.

I found a network issue causing the major slowdown on a couple of our older machines, however it does still take 2 seconds to load in after the login screen with the pt dashboard vs less than a second without the dashboard enabled...even on new machines. Would be much better if it was just like having the task list over there, basically instantaneous.
