Multiple offices

Multiple offices

Post by jordansparks » Thu Jun 28, 2007 10:08 pm

I came up today with a new strategy for multiple offices. Connect them all with highspeed internet or even a dedicated T1. Each office would run its own database for its own patients. Now let's say that you want to be able to see all patients for all offices. We could add a feature that lets you set up multiple database connections. Whenever you do a patient search, it would search all offices simultaneously and give you one list. When you pick a patient, the program would switch to the database for that patient. Now you still couldn't move patients between databases. And there's still the speed issue to deal with since it's a VPN. But I think it solves the biggest complaint of multiple locations, which is that you want to be able to see all the patients.

Multiple offices

Hello Jordan,

Still we prefer the MySQL hosting option and at first synchronise the directories, later keep it one and the same directory through a VPN connection. This feels like the safest way.

By the way, does anyone has experience with external internet drive services like Xdrive.com for example?

Daniel.

There are VPN Router and VPN pass-through Router. Are you having performance issue with the former or the latter?

Jordan,
I LIKE your post from over 3 years ago, June 28,2007. Did that ever happen?
If not, why? ...what would it take to make it happen?

No, that hasn't happened yet. It's hard to answer "what it would take". It would just take some work on our part.

Are there other offices with multiple locations and databases that would like to "group" together to make this happen?
Are you talking $ dollars? interest? how much?

If someone wanted a quote to begin work on that feature immediately, it would be about $3000. But the other way of getting it done is if there is enough interest in that feature as measured by the feature request system.
